july-updates

Hello friends, hello family.

I hope this post finds you well; a fair bit has gone on in the last month or so; the fires are slowly getting better, smokey days are a lot less which is good but it is still stink’n hot… BBQ weather everyday.

We have been going out with friends from work every weekend  having BBQ’s and having drinks; just generally having fun in the summer heat.
Last night after work we went out to dinner with 3 other couples and played miniature golf until midnight and went back to one of the couples to play Wii tennis; we got back home at around 5am this morning.

August is a good month in Reno, we have the rib cook off coming up in a few weeks which we always go to; yummy BBQ ribs, corn, funnel cake and country music.

I had my birthday a couple of weeks ago, turned 24 years old, still feel 18 though :-) which is a good thing, Jess brought me a linksys telephone router for our 2talk account so we can make and receive  phone calls to New Zealand for a set price per month which is cheaper than paying per minute; check it out @ www.2talk.co.nz Cheaper prices than telecom and you can still use your Telecom phone number; it comes with voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, callertunes and lots more starting at $15 per month for 500 mins of international calls, NZ calls, but unlimited local area calls. For $30 you get unlimited worldwide mins, for $40 you get unlimited worldwide and 100mins of calls to New Zealand cellphones, after 100mins of calls to Cellphones you pay I believe 20 or 25 cents per minute which is still cheaper than telecom.

Jessicas Birthday is coming up in the next 2 weeks so I brought her an early birthday present, Wii Fit for our Nintindo Wii, having lots of fun doing yoga and the other strength training games that come part of the package, Wii fit is a fun way to get fit and loose weight, have only had it for just under a week but we are already getting better balance & Posture and loosing weight. So if you want to get fit and loose weight AND have fun then you should get wii fit if you have a wii.

Some of you already know this next part, Jessica and I are coming back to New Zealand to live, leaving December 8th this year, sick of the fast paced American lifestyle and lack of healthcare, plus New Zealand is a heck of alot better place for raising kids when we decide to have them.
So we will be seeing you in December :-) cant wait.

Had a great time riding the rollercoasters and the other thrill rides aswell as visiting the main hotels and casinos in the strip. The HIM concert was good, best part was meeting the Band that opened up for HIM after the show; Aiden is a great new band who are going to do very well in the future; nice guys too. June already? Scott and Jessica Ferguson

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

Hello everyone.

The month of May just flew by so fast and before we knew it, it was June; my goodness this year has gone so fast; it has just been flying by faster and faster.
Not allot went on in the month of May in our lives except we were pretty busy in the weekends building a fence around the property here to keep the dogs in; now we can leave the dogs outside and they cant bother anyone anymore which is good.

Work was good in May, I had my best selling month in May which was good for me and the company but I also got offered a job at a large communication company as a broadband technician; the perks and benefits are too many to mention and too good to pass up and so yesterday I accepted the job and gave 2 weeks notice to my current employer.

This week Jess and I will travel to Las Vegas by car to go to a HIM concert which will be awesome.
We are traveling to Vegas on Wednesday and staying Wednesday night and Thursday night in the Sahara hotel and casino and Friday and Saturday night in the Tropicana hotel and casino.
We will most likely spend our time traveling around the numerous hotels and casinos going to the various attractions there and visiting the amusement parks around Vegas and going on the roller coasters; and of course lots of photos will be taken.

This is a 2 week update, sorry to have kept you all in the dark for so long.

2 weekends ago Jess, Jess’s mom and sister and I went on a trip to Lake Mono to see the rock formations protruding out of the water and to see all the bird life there since about 50% of seagulls from the US are born at Lake Mono.
Lake Mono was interesting but more so were the Prairie dogs we were watching by the creek next to the car park; there was about 8 little prairie dogs popping out of the ground and running around and there was also a few woodpeckers about pecking at the trees which was funny to watch.

The next day Jess and I went on a drive to sierra valley which is about 20mins drive into California from here (it is where Jess grew up) we drove around the whole valley looking at all the birds on the sides ofthe deer the road and in the wetlands; the birds were extremely color full.
We then took a drive from the valley to Frenchman’s lake California which is bout 35mins from our house.
While we were there I did some fishing (but didn’t have any luck) and we had a small BBQ lunch before we went for a drive around the lake and hiking in the bush etc.

Last week at work was quite slow but it was somewhat productive; I had some good sales days last week which was good and I hope it stays that way.

This weekend on the Friday after work Jess and I took a drive to Frenchman’s lake again and setup camp.
As we were coming into camp we spotted a wild deer on the side of the road munching on some food; we took a photo of the deer.
We got to the camp site after driving around several looking for good spots at about 7:30pm when it was beginning to get dark so we lite a fire in the fire pit and set up the tent in the light from the fire; we then cooked dinner on the fire and went to sleep by 10:30 to get up early to go fishing.

We didn’t get much sleep since it was so damn cold; in fact it was the worst sleep we had had in ages; it may be extremely hot in the day but it is extremely cold at night time.
We got up and had breakfast which we cooked on the fire at about 6am and went fishing at 7:30am till lunchtime when we went for a walk.
The animals at the lake are amazing; the animals we witnessed on our walk and throughout the weekend consisted of….

lots of cute chipmunks, rabbits, wild deer, numerous species of squirrels, woodpeckers, frogs, red breasted robins, lizards, hawks, falcons and vultures.

We had a better sleep on Saturday night and got up at 8am to go fishing; we left the camp and were home by 10am.

How was your weekend??

Wow, cant believe Ive finally gotten my drivers licence.

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Been pretty busy as of late with work, being a salesman in a busy computer store is quite demanding and I have been having a hardtime keeping up with this blog aswell as doing other things.

Some big news :-) I have finally gotten my drivers licence so now I can drive to and from work and finally go fishing in the weekends which I will be doing this weekend IF the weather is warm BUT i dont think it will be since it is suppose to be storming this weekend :(
Jess has been accepted into an Electronic apprenticeship and she starts My plateson monday so this weekend we need to get her some tools and steel capped boots.
The apprenticeship is a 5 year course and to start with she is working at the new wing at the hospital she has been working at parking cars so she really isnt moving very far from that job hehe. This week the weather finally started to get nice and hot just like spring is suppose to be around here this time of year; the last 3 days the weather has been awsome with cloudless days and alot of sunshine but today the weather turned to poo which sucks.
As you know I brought a car the other week and last night I finally got my personalised licence plates in the mail NUZLAND.

The drivers in this country are insane; they drive way to damn fast and dont respect the other drivers on the road; this could be just in Reno but it is terrible.

Will keep you updated.

Lots of Love

Hola All from Scott & Jessica

Saturday, April 1st, 2006
Just got back from the movie theatre seeing ‘The Shaggy Dog’ it was great; you should see it.

Just a couple of updates for you to read.

Last weekend Jess and I went to California for the weekend to pick up a car I had brought (you can see photos if you click here) we had allot of fun in California; on the way back over the Sierra Nevada’s we passed through areas on the road on the mountain that had had a massive snow fall the night before; I have photos of my self standing next to 10-12 feet walls of snow on the side of the road if you click here (you can also see other photos of the journey)

I spent the last month working for the District Attorney’s office moving computers from one building to another; lots of fun, meet allot of cool people while I was working with the DA’s office and I will miss it allot, but my original job needed going back to and so I have gone back to sell and fix computers since my one month DA’s contract has ended.

Last week I also got glasses since my vision has become very impaired; so impaired I cannot read the road signs with out glasses which would mean I would fail my driver’s license test on the 18th of April.
I don’t mind wearing the glasses; they look all right on me and I can see a heck of allot better which is the main thing.

Wearing these glasses makes me realise just how blind I was before and makes me wonder why I didn’t get glasses a long time ago.

Jess and I plus a couple of friends on the 7th of June are going to drive to Las Vegas for about 4 days to see a HIM concert but also do things we didn’t do last time we were in Vegas like visit the Casinos that we didn’t go to last time or ride the other many different roller coasters we didn’t have time to ride last time; we will also step into Arizona to take a look at the Grand Canyon and Hover Dam.

Not much else going on; please write to us or post a comment as to how you are doing :-)

Take care all.

Love Scott & Jessica

Hola All.

Just an update on how we are doing :-)

Jess and I are doing good; we are both enjoying our jobs; Jess gets to drive really fancy cars and I get to tinker with really nice computers.
On the 2nd of March I started working for the Washoe District Attorny (DA) moving computers from 3 older buildings to a brand new building; I will be going back to my actual job working in the TCreno office 1st of April or when ever the computers are all moved into the building and they dont need me anymore to help then; working for the US Goverment is really relaxing which I didnt think would be possible.

2 weeks ago Jess and I both got Cellphones since we both need them for work; plus it makes communication alot better between us; we are on a contract family plan which is working out perfect; we have 1000 shared whenever minutes, free nights and weekends, unlimited emails, unlimited Messages (text, photo, mulitmedia), unlimited datatransfer, insurance ect all for under $50 per phone.

I got my drivers licence permit last friday morning and am have an appointment to get my full licence on the 21st of March so I am practicing hard; I hate the roads here.

If you want to check out the photos that we are taking with our phones you can check out http://scottjames84.textamerica.com/ and you can check out our most recent photos by clicking the photos on the left hand side of the page on http://www.scottjess.com

untill next time.

No more boredom as we are working lol.

I love my job, I get to work with technology and friendly people; I am on a base rate aswell as commision which is pretty good, the basepay is good and the commision is even better.
Jess loves her job so far, she isnt paid all that much by the hour but is paid well in tips when she returns the cars to the owners.

If you are in USA call Toll Free: 1-800-883-0126 ask for Scott and I will give you good deals on inks, toners and any other computer equipment.

Sunny weekend

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

For the first time in a few weeks the weather this weekend has been good :-) nice and sunny with no breeze; little nippy because its winter but apart from that; its all good.

I spose you have all heard about the whale in the Thames river in London by now :( sad story; unfortunatly the whale past away.

I finally think my computer is fixed, thank god; it hasnt crashed on me for about 2 weeks which is good.
Ive been working on a new website called Kiwis living in USA (http://www.kiwisinusa.com or http://www.kiwislivinginusa.com) I have a feeling it should become pretty popular since there are thousands of former NZers living in the USA.

Some updates

Thursday, January 12th, 2006

Since Christmas Jess and I have been Relaxing doing things that need to be done before we commit to permanant jobs such as getting drivers licences (I still havent gotten my US drivers licence but will be doing that soon, differnt rules and regulations I have to learn), Since Jess is a new resident to Nevada she had to get her Nevadan drivers licence so we did that last week; she now has her Nevadan drivers licence which is good.
Jess is still catching up with friends she hasnt seen since she left to go to NZ, yesterday she caught up with a freind she hadnt seen since highschool, we were eatting at a restaurant in Jess’s home town in California and her friend was sitting at the next booth.

Jess is applying for an electrical apprenticeship in reno which lasts 5 years and contains heaps of benifets like free insurance, good pay ect and thats why we were in Jess’s home town yesterday to get her highschool transcripts.

It snowed last week for about 24 hours, about 3 and a half inches lay on the ground, it was a nice suprise to wake up to snow on the ground :-) bit cold though.

Not much else to report on, will keep you posted.
